Denver Eco-Friendly Living Examiner According to 2006 statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), more than one billion people around the world lack a basic supply of clean water. Here are some easy tips for conserving water from H20conserve.org: Didn’t finish that glass of water? Use the rest to water your plants. Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth or soaping your hands. Turn off sink faucet when scrubbing dishes and soaps. Install a tap aerator on your faucets – this will reduce the amount of water coming out of the tap without you even noticing! Don’t run the dishwasher or clothes washer until it’s completely full – it will save water and energy, and lower the amount of detergent that goes in the sewage system. Need to thaw frozen foods? Don’t run them under running water, instead, remember to take them out of the freezer before you need them.
